Human Material Loop
Human Material Loop is a Dutch material science startup developing sustainable textile fibers from waste human hair. The companytransforms discarded keratin-rich hair into high-performance fibers, yarns, and textiles through proprietary biotechnology and low-impact processing methods. Their first commercial product, ādara®, is positioned as a durable, traceable, plastic-free alternative toconventional fibers such as wool, polyester, and synthetic acoustic textiles. The company focuses initially on the interior industry, especially acoustic panels, noise-reduction systems, commercial interiors, andarchitectural applications rather than fast fashion. Human Material Loop promotes circular economy principles by using local wastestreams, reducing transportation emissions, avoiding animal farming inputs, and enabling recyclable end products. The startup operates from the Brightlands Chemelot ecosystem in the Netherlands and collaborates with science, design, andmanufacturing partners to scale future textile systems.
