Process robustness improvement tools in injection molding

Context and Objective:

Using recycled materials in injection molding creates batch variability issues, causing defects and instability. This project aims to develop a control system for injection molding that predicts anomalies by linking process parameters with quality control results, using defect-detection cameras and weight measurements for assurance.

Implementation 

  • Integration of a transfer robot for moving parts to inspection cell
     
  • Development of an inspection cell
     
  • Processing of samples (with increasing complexity) by injection and data acquisition
     
  • Process analysis by applying AI capabilities to link process and part quality
